Waiter, There’s a Hanger in my Tea
January 13th, 2010Aren’t these Hanger Tea “tees” crazy fun? I’m a big tea drinker (I don’t drink coffee–I know, I’m from another planet), and this is just too good! I’m thinking that instead of having a big dessert/coffee bar, you’d have a bar with cookies and biscuits and an assortment of teas. Can you imagine the talk around the tea bar?
Guest 1: “Can you believe how cute these are?”
Guest 2: “I know! This couple has such great taste. They thought of everything! And they match their wedding colors!”
Soon Ma Kang is the genius behind this–they’re color coded for different varieties, isn’t that smart? I just love when people figure out how to bring the whimsy to ordinary things. I mean, why be ordinary?

Vintage Me Mine
January 12th, 2010Currently cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs over this dreamy confection. It’s from the 60s, made from silk, and the make is Teal Traina, according to the gals at Xtabay Vintage Clothing Boutique. Isn’t it gorge? I imagine it for a city hall affair or for a dance-heavy after party, post-reception. The rose! The sleeves! The forgiving cut! I want it, like, now. How hot would this be with some fishnets, some teal pumps, a fur stole and a birdcage veil and Audrey Hepburn-like gloves a la Sabrina? Chills.
Or how about this, a vintage gown from the 30s:
Right? Right? The blue sash? So good.
They both live at Xtabay Vintage Clothing Boutique in Portland. Telling you, that town’s got it goin’ on! Definitely on my must-visit list. And this boutique would be one of the first stops!

To Dye For
January 7th, 2010Elizabeth Dye is a Portland-based designer whom I have long admired. She’s a whiz at creating elegant shrugs and beautiful and modern dresses with a vintage touch. There is a softness in all of her designs, with a very clear point of view. Her 2010 wedding dress collection does not disappoint. It’s romantic, classic and breathily sexy. My favorite is the “Honeychurch,” with its wispy shoulder straps, sparkling belt and yummy lace. It’d be my No. 1 choice if I was getting married tomorrow. Stunning on all fronts, but don’t take my word for it. Check out the rest!
Groomsmen Gifts
January 1st, 2010Yo! Happy New Year ya’ll! A new decade… wow. Kind of crazy. Thanks for visiting in 2009, I hope to see more of you in 2010! And now back to the Spruce:
Girls have so many options when it comes to gifting the special ladies who stand by them on their wedding day. Guys I’d imagine, have a rougher time. And then I saw these iPhone cases by Etsy seller yummypocket and thought hey hey hey I like like like.
The cassette player design is pretty awesome. They’ve also got one decked out in the Japanese pretzel hybrid Pocky, which is radalicious too.
