Behold, BHLDN
February 10th, 2011I’m not the girliest of the girlies, but I do love a lush, romantic as all getout wedding day getup. So my heart did a little shimmy when I popped onto two of my fave blogs, Cupcakes & Cashmere and Cup of Jo, to see that they had previewed the new bridal collection from Anthropologie: BHLDN (pronounced “beholden”). Priced from $1,000 to $4,000, it’s not only reasonable, but hits the right mix of traditional, modern and retro. I can’t wait to see what else is unveiled when the curtains officially rise on Valentine’s Day. Here are a few pics from Cup of Jo and Oh Joy!–the latter of which will be sharing more posts from the collection preview this week. Utter bridal deliciousness! And of course I love the event styling–Anthropologie to a T!
By the way, I’ll be attending the Gump’s “Princess and the Porcelain” bridal event tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the San Francisco store. Come say hi! I’ll be in a kelly green cardigan.

Shoesday
January 24th, 2011It’s Monday, but all I can think about are these shoes worn by What I Wore blogger, Jessica Quirk at her fall wedding last year. Of course the bride wore vintage… and those shoes? By Kate Spade. Lovely.

Shoes Glorious Shoes
January 21st, 2011There’s a serious dearth of cute wedding shoes out there. Thank goodness for Hey Lady. Not cheap, but oh so very cute, like this “Twinkletoes” pair.
A Wedding Gown Less than $100
January 20th, 2011I was trolling French Connection’s site and lo and behold, a perfectly worthy wedding dress on sale for $79.99 from $248. In real girl sizes too. Go. Now.
Going, Going, Gown
January 19th, 2011Ahoy there! And wow, can you please forgive me for the lack of January posts? It’s been quite a month already and I’m slowly trying to come up for air as I book clients for this year and even next!
For all you brides-to-be or if you’re just a girl looking for a pretty dress, look no further than J. Crew’s gown sale–some starting at $200 and none more than $1,200. There are some beauties lurking in there!
The sale ends tomorrow, January 20 so hurry hurry hurry!
Holi-hair
December 25th, 2010Greetings from Southern California, where I write this post! Like most of you I imagine you’re busy running around between households or sprucing up your roost for out-of-town guests and doing last minute shopping and recipe hunting and all the stuff that makes the holidays the holi-DAZE.
I’ve been catching up on magazines and blogs and the latest Real Simple on happiness has really got me thinking. I’ve also been loving cupcakesandcashmere’s “things that make me happy,” plus I’ve been eyeing Jonathan Adler’s new tome, Happy Chic Colors decorating book, so happy is the buzz word for me as I enter the new year.
But first, the parties! As the classic song goes, What are you doing New Year’s Eve?
I’ve got this beautiful and simple hairdo (below) on the brain. It may just be the one I rock on NYE! From Martha, nach.
But even BEFORE all that New Year’s talk: Christmas!
Merry, merry everyone.
Taylor Taylor Taylor
December 13th, 2010I first caught sight of Accessories Director Taylor Tomasi Hill in the Web pages of The Sartorialist and since then, have been utterly bewitched. Preppy classic with a punk edge and very decidedly downtown. It’s a look I aspire to.
So when I caught up on Martha Stewart Weddings online, I had no idea that when I clicked on a thumbnail of a redhead in a ’20s coif kissing her man at her wedding reception that it would turn out to be… Taylor!
There’s something about fashion industry girls who get married that I love. They’ve got the fashion part down pat, but it always intrigues me how they turn that sartorial aptitude into couture wedding candy. (See Jenna Lyons, Jessica de Ruiter and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.) The bride wore two J. Mendel dresses and a prized pair of Alaia sky-high heels, natch.
A vision in red.
