Here’s something new: a whole group shot on bike. Look at the expressions on the two bridesmaids on the far left! From this Calistoga wedding.

From this wedding at the Faculty Club in Berkeley, Calif. Photo by Bay Area photographer Kate Harrison. Check out herĀ blog too, where I saw this Wayne Thiebaud-inspired cake display. Such brilliance! Wayne Thiebaud is one of my faves, especially since he paints cakes and sweets like the dickens.

One of my favorite things about Kate is her devotion to green weddings. She started Bee Green last fall to encourage sustainability practices for her clients. Rad, right?

Which brings me to a Lily Spruce tip: when selecting photographers, ask them how they’re a green business. Do they bike to client meetings? Take public transportation? Shoot digital and send digital after shooting events to save paper? Do they have most of their info on their Web site or PDF documents they can send you, like their rate sheets? All good questions to ask if you really want to have others walk the walk with you on wedding day…

My goodness, I’ve fallen behind on my posts! So sorry about that, but alas, this is Wedding Month, with 4 of 5 weekends this month devoted exclusively to clients. Yeah. I’ll be back on track eventually, so I’m going to apologize now for the dearth.

Now, how about this shot from this wedding? And p.s. today is the 16th annual Bike to Work Day here in the SF Bay Area. Make it Bike to Work Day every day!

A little departure from Bicycle Thursday. Did anyone watch the L.A. season (Season 6) with Carol Hannah on Project Runway? I looooooved her dress designs so much! Turns out, she’s making wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and some hair accessories and is selling on Etsy! Bananas. This dress below is hers and priced at $895 and called “Spring Street.”

Reader Question: Short Wedding Dress

May 4th, 2010

Lily Spruce reader Rachel M. wants to know who makes the dress featured in this Club Wedd Target ad I wrote about a few months ago. I searched a bit but came up empty. Anyone know? Or know of someone who makes something similar?

Comment here, or drop me a line at g@lilyspruce.com.

Thanks!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week but I have been prepping for a wedding tomorrow and have been chatting with my other May clients. Bridal season is officially open! I’ll be sharing much more in the next week or two with eye candy galore from all of the upcoming nuptials.

I’m also nursing some bumps and bruises; I was in a bike accident today. I was on my way to work and coming down a steep hill when a woman who didn’t signal made a three-point turn right in front of me. I didn’t have any room and broke hard, and did a little leap over the handlebars. Luckily I didn’t hit her car, I emerged with only a few scratches and nothing broken. I was wearing a helmet and gloves and a Good Samaritan came to the rescue and let me sit inside his home to collect myself post-accident.

I’ll be back on my bike eventually, but for now, a happy bike picture for your Thursday by Travis Hoehne from this wedding.

Make sure to look both ways drivers and bicyclists!
