Sneak Peek: Alex + Alicia

June 2nd, 2010

A+A in field

Just a fun sneak peek at the wedding of Alex & Alicia, who were married May 15 at Alex’s parents’ rose farm in Healdsburg, Calif. I know I keep saying this, but stay tuned for more details from my four May weddings.

Butterflies are Free

This weekend I’m headed back to the Farm at Putah Creek, for clients Colby and Will. Look for more Do It Yourself details in the coming days and weeks from the four weddings I did this month. Phew! What a May.

I was looking for origami necklaces and spotted these by Bay Areas-based Etsy seller SewSmashing. She makes the same origami butterfly pieces for boutonnières too. Great prices too: 3 for $23 for the hair pins and 5 for $31 for bouquet placement.

Bethany + Dan Sneak Peek: the deets

May 18th, 2010

A few weeks ago, I kicked off the wedding season with the May 1 nuptials of Bethany and Dan on the Farm at Putah Creek in Winters, Calif. (You’ll remember I did Trent and Jean’s wedding there last October.)

While all the shots haven’t been totally prepared and edited to the nines just yet, their photographer Stephen Hughes indulged me and sent these lovelies to my inbox for sharing. Nosh on this delicious eye candy and expect more in the next couple of weeks.

And just a note please that if you are going to use these pictures that you properly credit Stephen and the original source (this blog, essentially) of the photos. You can even notify him or me (g@lilyspruce.com) if you do so. Thanks mucho!

P.S. I have never had such delicious vegan cake in my life, one of which was lovingly baked by one friend and the main two-tier by another, finished on-site. Needless to say, more to come!

Do-It-Yourself: Clothespinned Words

If you haven’t guessed already, I love clothespins. Simple, wooden and handy. I use them everywhere, and yes of course, at events! And yes, at my wedding too (above)!

And then I saw this on Once Wed (my daily source of wedding porn), and just went gaga over how they recycled pretty paper to make this sign. The back story is that the girls who hung this up at their friend’s wedding hang “celebrate” at all their functions. Fun, right?

celebrate letters

Taking inspiration, I threw my three beloved co-workers a Rock Band-themed wedding shower and hung “Rock It” above our credenza. I have a great big calendar from Papyrus and used past months’ paper to make the letters. I hand-drew the letters, cut, clipped and hung on twine! Do it yourself here. Simple and E to the Z!
