Sneak Peek: Alex + Alicia
June 2nd, 2010Just a fun sneak peek at the wedding of Alex & Alicia, who were married May 15 at Alex’s parents’ rose farm in Healdsburg, Calif. I know I keep saying this, but stay tuned for more details from my four May weddings.

Congrats Ladd & Marisa!
May 25th, 2010Another client rides off happily into the sunset. Congrats Ladd & Marisa! Beautiful wedding this weekend at the White Barn at Oak Hill Farm in Glen Ellen, Calif. And that pesky rain had enough sense to stay away until after the ceremony too. See a small video of them recessing.
More details to come… Here’s a little sneak peek of Marisa taking out the mum from her hair, that I took.
Bethany + Dan Sneak Peek: the deets
May 18th, 2010A few weeks ago, I kicked off the wedding season with the May 1 nuptials of Bethany and Dan on the Farm at Putah Creek in Winters, Calif. (You’ll remember I did Trent and Jean’s wedding there last October.)
While all the shots haven’t been totally prepared and edited to the nines just yet, their photographer Stephen Hughes indulged me and sent these lovelies to my inbox for sharing. Nosh on this delicious eye candy and expect more in the next couple of weeks.
And just a note please that if you are going to use these pictures that you properly credit Stephen and the original source (this blog, essentially) of the photos. You can even notify him or me (g@lilyspruce.com) if you do so. Thanks mucho!

P.S. I have never had such delicious vegan cake in my life, one of which was lovingly baked by one friend and the main two-tier by another, finished on-site. Needless to say, more to come!
Monday Giveaway!
April 19th, 2010Happy Monday! Did ya’ll have a good weekend? Yesterday I did a site visit to the Farm at Putah Creek, on the grounds of the Center for Land-Based Learning, in Winters–about 30 minutes from Davis, Calif. and the site of Jean & Trent’s wedding that I coordinated last October. As of today, my clients Bethany and Dan have less than two weeks until their big day, and it’s exciting to hear how things will come together!
I’m kicking off Monday with a giveaway from New Orleans-based designer Denise Holmes of Nisee Made, whose whimsical invitations caught my eye on Project Wedding with this shoot. Denise is offering a set of personalized notecards like the one below to one Lily Spruce reader! To enter, simply visit the Nisee (pronounced “knee-see”) site and leave a comment here on your favorite thing in her collection with your e-mail address.
I’ll draw a winner at random on Friday, April 23. Good luck!
All About Jenna
April 12th, 2010I’m betting that 90% of American women have a serious girl crush on J. Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons, myself included. She’s injected her cool girl, preppy-with-a-twist aesthetic to the brand, and successfully bridged Crew sensibility into bridal with the wedding line in 2004. But before all that–before the “Jenna’s picks,” the J. Crew style spottings of Michelle Obama and the current Fall 2010 collection hysteria–there was Jenna the Bride.
I remember chancing upon a New York magazine bit about her wedding in their bridal issue years ago, while researching ideas for my own wedding. It was an elegant affair on a Massachusetts farm with all the markings of someone employed by J. Crew: long, black bridesmaid dresses; men in kilts and a dewy Jenna with a simple, low-cut dress (which she designed, natch) embroidered with flowers, leaves and pheasants.
I visited the site of her photographer, Holger Thoss, wondering if I’d see any of her pictures in the portfolio, and lo and behold, they were there. I gasped and became still in reverence. I think you’d agree it’s a very muted and lovely glimpse into a day not unlike any of ours who have been down the aisle, surrounded by family, friends and love. Enjoy.
Spring Has Sprung
March 15th, 2010It’s been pure sunshine the past few days in San Francisco, with temps in the high 50s and 60s. Here’s a shot I took while strolling down one of the streets in Winters, Calif., just minutes away from the Farm at Putah Creek–the site of two weddings I’ll be doing in May!
This week and the weeks following, I’ll be chronicling and sharing some design details as these weddings days approach.
