Jenny Yoo, I Presume?
August 27th, 2010Well readers, the great mystery surrounding the maker of the dress in the Target Club Wedd ad has been solved. Turns out it’s a beaut by one of my fave wedding lines, Jenny Yoo! It’s called the “Paige” and it’s quite the bargain. The silk shantung in white or off-white starts at $450 and the silk taffeta comes in off-white only and starts at $525.
Budget-friendly, classic lines, flattering for most body types… and pockets! It’s a win-win all around.
Thanks to Ellen at Jenny Yoo who contacted us and let us know.
Case closed!
When in Portland
June 4th, 2010These are the times I wish we could travel with the click of our heels or the snap of our fingers: Elizabeth Dye, who makes the most gorgeous and original wedding gowns ever, is hosting a DIY workshop for brides-to-be who desire bridal accoutrements like a sash, headpiece, combs, etc. She’s calling it Finishing School, and I so want to enroll. Maybe my Portland readers will sign up? Go here.
A Ballet Wedding
June 3rd, 2010I recently had a talk with one of my Lily Spruce team members about truly having an original wedding. It’s really, really hard to be original! So I flipped for this photoshoot spread manned by Chelsea Fuss, who’s always so spot-on. And original, of course.
Sneak Peek: Alex + Alicia
June 2nd, 2010Just a fun sneak peek at the wedding of Alex & Alicia, who were married May 15 at Alex’s parents’ rose farm in Healdsburg, Calif. I know I keep saying this, but stay tuned for more details from my four May weddings.

Bethany + Dan Sneak Peek: the deets
May 18th, 2010A few weeks ago, I kicked off the wedding season with the May 1 nuptials of Bethany and Dan on the Farm at Putah Creek in Winters, Calif. (You’ll remember I did Trent and Jean’s wedding there last October.)
While all the shots haven’t been totally prepared and edited to the nines just yet, their photographer Stephen Hughes indulged me and sent these lovelies to my inbox for sharing. Nosh on this delicious eye candy and expect more in the next couple of weeks.
And just a note please that if you are going to use these pictures that you properly credit Stephen and the original source (this blog, essentially) of the photos. You can even notify him or me (g@lilyspruce.com) if you do so. Thanks mucho!

P.S. I have never had such delicious vegan cake in my life, one of which was lovingly baked by one friend and the main two-tier by another, finished on-site. Needless to say, more to come!
Wear a Flower in Your Hair
May 7th, 2010There’s been a huge to-do about ban.do, and for good reason, but believe me when I say there are mad people out there making pretty things to wear in our hair, like this one from the shop Love, Taza. She’s got a really fun blog too with plenty of Polaroid-ish snaps (sigh… I miss you Polaroid). Silver rosette headband, $41.

Bicycle Thursday
May 6th, 2010A little departure from Bicycle Thursday. Did anyone watch the L.A. season (Season 6) with Carol Hannah on Project Runway? I looooooved her dress designs so much! Turns out, she’s making wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and some hair accessories and is selling on Etsy! Bananas. This dress below is hers and priced at $895 and called “Spring Street.”
Kind of Found! Club Wedd Dress
May 5th, 2010So… I did my best sleuthing but couldn’t find the *exact* dress in the Club Wedd ad, but I did see something pretty similar in Romona Keveza’s Spring 2009 line. With a little tulle skirt underneath as in the pictures, this dress makes for a strong stand-in. Check it out:
This looks close too:
I saw some adorableness, from Melissa Sweet. That’s the “Billie” style on the left, and “Maddie” on the right. Yummy.
Etsy Find: Short & Sweet
May 4th, 2010In a hunt to help out Rachel M., I spotted this short and sweet vintage number at Persephone Vintage on Etsy. Delicious!
Awesome Blossom
April 21st, 2010My friend and client Vivien and I headed out to the Alemany Flea market just down the hill from my house on Sunday. Man the pickings were good! I found some vintage brass candelabras for one of my other clients, an awesome ceramic fondue set made in Japan, a brass bracelet that looked like a fastened buckle, a glass storage bowl shaped like a pear for my terrarium project and a hand mixer.
While we were there Viv spied a gorgeous pink, grey and gold china with only three settings, a small bowl and four teacups for–wait for it–$10! Neither of us got it (it didn’t match any of the stuff we had but we both imagined girlie tea parties with them) but believe me, we both feel the sting and it still hasn’t left my memory. Luckily there are these images from Sweet Paul to ease the hurt. I love the color combo for a springtime wedding!
